Stop depending on coursebooks and slide decks. Start teaching authentic, responsive, and conversation-driven lessons.
Does this sound like you?
You spend too much time preparing materials/slides for your learners.
You waste your precious free time adapting a bland lesson from a coursebook.
You promise personalized lessons, but feel like they’re a bit generic.
You want to teach personalized lessons for each of your learners without spending the weekends preparing materials.
You want to deliver a high-quality, high-impact English course so you can charge more for your lessons.
You don’t want to be another PowerPoint teacher.
How many times did you nod? Too many?
In this four-module course, you will learn how to:
- Facilitate dynamic, conversation-led lessons that are truly learner-centered.
- Move past generic materials and build engaging lessons from the language that emerges in the room.
- Confidently deal with emergent language and turn spontaneous moments into powerful learning opportunities.
- Deliver responsive, student-centered lessons that keep your learners motivated and talking.
What You Will Learn:
Module 1: Theoretical underpinnings that support Dogme ELT
Dive into the theory and research that support this ‘teaching unplugged’ approach. Understand the pedagogical principles that empower you to teach effectively with minimal materials.
Module 2: How to teach a Dogme lesson – the ETRER Framework
Time for action. In this module, we will work on how to turn the research findings and methodological principles explored in the first module into actual classroom practice.
Module 3: How to deal with emergent language
Discover how to effectively identify, respond to, and build upon the language that naturally emerges from your students, turning spontaneous moments into powerful learning opportunities.
Module 4: What does a Dogme course look like?
In this final module, we will explore a course design strategy to turn the ‘chaos’ of Dogme into a coherent, assessed, valid, and reliable course.
Here’s what teachers who took the course had to say:
More than just introducing Dogme ELT, Bruno fills this course with important, research-based facts about how people learn languages. So, even if we, as teachers, move away from Dogme for any reason, we are left with game-changing information that can guide our practice. What’s more, Bruno has an amazing way of making complex topics easy to understand. The lessons flow smoothly, even when the content is dense. I recommend every course he offers.
The fact that the course was largely grounded in real classroom experiences made it truly worth the time and effort, especially for teachers engaged in continuous professional development.
The course is ideal for teachers who want to understand and develop flexibility in English language teaching, rather than strictly following a fixed curriculum.
Personally, I felt that I already had the necessary skills and experience to make Dogme ELT meaningful in my practice. However, listening to the varied experiences of the other participants and the speaker himself gave me greater confidence and a more positive outlook on applying it.
I applied what I learned with some of my students during this month of the course, and we could clearly see their improvement. I finally learned how to teach on a conversation basis, how to design a course with lesson plans, and how to create dynamic assessments focused on real communication with the student.
The course welcomed teachers with different background who are inserted in the most varied contexts and the exchange of experiences was nice – we got to see each other’s lesson plans and learn a lot from it. English teachers who are looking for an expansion of repertoire and who are willing to be more skillful should definitely take this course. I learned that the more we know about second language acquisition, the better prepared we are to actually teach the language. DOGME is an excellent fit for professionals who understand the importance of bringing reality to class and today’s learners.
